Worship at Dayspring

Worship has always been central for us. As a church that values both the mind and heart, our worship might be described as warm, thoughtful, and reflective. This happens through the convergence of several streams of the Christian tradition that shape our worship service.

Contemplative & Celebratory

When we gather to encounter God, we take time to be still and present to God, to one another, and to the world. There are times when our hearts are lifted in praise through the sound of the organ or a litany of celebration. In other moments, the piano will soothe our souls as we are drawn into silence and reflection. In addition to hymns we sing short reflective choruses.

Liturgical

Our life together is shaped by the rhythms of the liturgical calendar and the Lectionary. We allow the scriptures to guide the direction of worship each week. Some texts may simply be read aloud, while others are read responsively, in unison, or by some other creative means.

Creative

Although there are common elements in our worship, there are also surprising and creative moments. Each week worship is creatively planned to engage our hearts so that we might hear a fresh word from God.

Participatory

As Baptists we believe in the priesthood of all believers. For us that takes its fullest expression in worship. Liturgy means “the work of the people.” We believe worship is the work of the entire congregation, not simply the ministers. Every Sunday you will hear various voices leading us through the movements of worship. Coming up from the pews you will see young and old, men and women.
