Visitor FAQ’s
We want to help you feel as comfortable as possible when visiting us. Below are some frequently asked questions. If you would like to ask more questions before or after your visit, don’t hesitate to give us a call or send us an email.
When and where do you meet for worship?
We gather every Sunday morning at 10:30 am for worship in the sanctuary. When you visit with us, please feel free to park in the visitors’ spaces in the upper lot to your left as you enter the parking lot.
Will I be singled out as a visitor?
No. We will not single you out by asking you to stand or raise your hand. All we ask of you is what we ask of everyone who worships with us – come and lift your heart to the God who welcomes all of us in Christ.
What can I expect of worship?
Worship at Dayspring is a convergence of various streams within the Christian tradition. While our music relies on hymns, we also appreciate spirituals, contemplative choruses, and the occasional contemporary music There are times of celebration, participation, and silence. Worship at Dayspring leaves room for both the holy and human—we leave room for questions, hold space for various interpretations, and honor the variety of feelings in the room. Our services tend to be creative and warm. We intentionally follow the rhythms of the global church (liturgical) calendar, believing that we are connected to the Body of Christ across the world, and throughout time. What should I wear to worship?
Simply put, you should wear what you’re comfortable in. You will probably see some in slacks and some in jeans. Most wear what could be described as business casual.
What opportunities are there for children in worship?
At Dayspring we believe that worship is for all generations. You can expect to see people of different ages involved in the service. Children regularly participate in worship through the lighting of candles, and they occasionally pray, read scripture, sing in an ensemble, or lead other parts of the service. Partway though worship, children ages preschool through 3rd grade are invited to Anniversary Hall for a special time of faith formation designed just for them.
What about nursery care?
We also have a nursery available for infants through preschool. The trained nursery staff provides a safe and caring environment for young children where they learn that church is a place they are loved and welcomed. To learn more, please click on our Children’s Ministry page.
What kind of Baptist church is Dayspring?
Dayspring values its rich Baptist heritage, but we are admittedly a “different kind of Baptist.” Historically we come from the long tradition of the American Baptist Church (USA), and we currently partner equally between ABC(USA) and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. We also value and embrace the larger Church tradition. Many of our members come from both mainline Protestant and Catholic backgrounds and have found Dayspring to be both familiar and refreshing.
